Project Description
In 2009, the Massillon Heritage Foundation received approval from the Save America’s Treasures Grant from the National Park Service to develop a Historic Structures Report (HSR) of the 6,500 sf Five Oaks Historic Home which included the mansion and the grounds.
Once an extensive investigation and assessment (via a 60-foot boom lift) of the facade and roof were completed, a microscopic lab analysis was conducted for the numerous historic paint, plaster and mortar samples. Other tests that were performed included the installation and analysis of crack monitors, and moisture absorption testing of the exterior sandstone and mortar joints.
Five Oaks is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in addition to being located within a Historic District.
