Project Description
The Natural Science Center has incorporated the new "bioinformatics" science technology lab into a 38,000 sf space and received a Federal grant through Congressman Ralph Regula for the $6,000,000 addition/renovation .
After a thorough studied campus plan to determine the optimum building location and impact, a space program was developed for the science lab needs by consulting various Department faculty that included:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Bio-Chemistry
- Bio-Informatics
- Biology
- Organic Chemistry
- Chemistry
- Micro-Biology
The success of the building contributed to the 25% increase of the incoming freshman science class, and the hiring of top faculty.
Recognition
"We've had an influx of prospective, incoming students visit campus who are interested in seeing the new science center.
Members of the faculty have commented that they love all the natural lighting in the buildings, as well as the staff offices on the 2nd floor. They are able to better communicate and collaborate with their peers and students much better as the result of the design layout of the space."
