Project Description
For their new corporate headquarters and product testing lab, Airtex Products decided to reuse and renovate a 45,000 sf vacant commercial building which had formerly housed a retail “mega-store”. To bring in more light and open up the offices, they introduced natural light through centrally-placed clerestory windows and skylights.
In order to optimize employee collaboration and promote teamwork, the office areas were configured in an “open landscape”, and a “Mixing room” (a large, circular version of the employee lunchroom) was developed in the center of the office and equipped with kitchennettes, vending machines, a bar, and seating for 45.
The product testing labs were seperated from office space by windows, allowing visitors to observe the testing/manufacturing process.
